Everett Public Library Evergreen Branch

This library has many of the typical features of the library. The trouble is that it randomly closes without notice (even though I am on their mailing list). Yesterday I stopped by to drop off some nearly due books. It was closed on a day it was normally open and even the return bin was locked, so I was unable to return the books. This is a frequent occurance.

The librarian was very rude and ill mannered. On two separate occasions I was working at the library bar and she came over and closed the blinds without even acknowledging I was there. I didn’t get her name but next time I most certainly will. I mentioned the incident to a young man who apparently was just a social worker, who went to another librarian to explain what had happened and she blatantly ignored the situation and said if I had i problem I should come to her. Oh, I was standing right there so she could have said something and let us resolved the matter. Both incidents happened at 5:40 so I wasn’t taking up their time. Some people just need basic human interaction training.

I had an online interview today. It was my first interview after my long career break and it wouldn’t be wrong to say I was nervous. I went to my local library because I have a hyperactive toddler who likes saying hi to anybody and everybody I am on the phone with or a zoom meetup. So I reached the library and asked for a room for 2 hours. There was this lady at the help desk and she took me to the room and wished me the best for my interview. In the middle of my interview, I looked up and saw her with a paper in her hands. The paper said, “You are really doing great!” ❤️ I cannot emphasize enough how much those words and her gesture meant. All my initial anxiety vanished and I felt I could conquer the world at that moment. I went out after my interview to thank her but she had left for the day. I made sure I told her colleague about her and told him to thank her for me. I will definitely go back and tell her how awesome she is and how her words motivated me ! It is surprising how little it takes to motivate someone. It can be a gesture, a word, a phrase or even a smile! #notallheroeswearcapes #motivation
